The weekly wool letter in the “Sydney Morning Herald” says that from July 1 to October 31, 333,000 bales were sold at auction. The advanced ised £5,916,324. which exceeds the similar period of last .season by £2,~ 042,106. "
Values at this week’s Sydney auctions were reflected in the upward trend of prices at Brisbane ad other Australian selling centres. Yorkshire and Japan were the most active operators. French ancL German competition was stronger than usual. The catalogues' were the most attractive submitted since the sales began two months ago, being free with fine, bright, soft-handling, high-yielding types.'
Of 50,604 bales offered 96 per cent, were sold at auctiin. The advanced cost of raw material hais influenced the prices for tops upward in Bradford and the turnover has displayed an improvement, while trade in semi-manu-factures has responded to the increased prices much more readily this season than _in former years.
