OPUNAKE
PRESBYTERIAN CONCERT. (From Our Own Correspondent). A large audience filled the theatre on Monday for the Opunake Presbyterian Church concert. A most en joyahle programme, given by Miss E Dowliiio- and party of New Plymouth artists, was appreciated by those present, every item being well received. Local artists were Mrs Barney and Mr D. Richards. The programme was as iollows. Aurelia March (Redmond), St. Andrews Orchestra; sonfe, Mrs P. C. Davie- recitation, Miss M. Gausted, musical item, Misses E. Dowling, O. Rosis, Mrs Shrimpton and Mr Hay; orchestral items, piano. solo, Mrs Shrimpton; violin solo, Miss Dowling ~| recitation. Miss Gausted; song, Mrs P C Davie: inarch, orchestra; song, Mr W. H. Hay; waltz, trio: song Mr p C Davie; musical monologue, -Mrs Barney and Mr D. Richards; recitation, Miss Gausted; song, Mr Hay; community singing. . Dari no- an interval in the programme the Rev. SCHOOL COMMITTEE. Tlie monthly meeting of the Opunake school committee was held in the primary school on Thursday night. Those present were Messrs S. Bojd, (chairman), J. Johnstone, C. Humphries. L. Brown, H. N. Gilshnan, D Richards. \v. Sharroek (secretary) and W- H. Burgess (headmaster). The headmaster reported that the primary roll number was IRo, the average attendance being 174 ; the secondary roll total was 3o and the average attendance 29.3. There had been one admission to the secondary department and the average should be able to be kept up to 31. Mr v G-Cai-'ou senior secondary assistant, had” been transferred to the position of headmaster at Otakeho. The secretary of the A. and P. Society, Hawera, wrote stating that a special train would run from Opunake to Hawera on people’s day of then spring show. The matter of granting a school holiday was left to the headmaster and chairman. Ih,:S ", 11l h , e oihject to a number of pupils tiaiel line to the show. .
