At Rugby League the Northern League side defeated the Australians by seven points to five, after the. latter had led by three points to nil at half-time. The* match was styled as an unofficial test, as 10 of the players in the home team have played for England in tests. The worst possible conditions prevailed. There was incessant rain and the ground was a quagmire.
