Australian trade representative, informed the Australian Press Association that he had communicated with his Government strongly advising a private Australian exhibition E ending the international wine show ere in February. It was suggested that Commonwealth wine-growers have an exceptional opportunity to develop the American market, and it was pointed out that the present generation of Americans, with the cessation of prohibition on December 5, are ready to cultivate a taste for a wide variety of wines, thus offering Australia an opportunity possibly to establish all its tvpes. The world’s finest post-war vintages wiLL be displayed at a bar at which wine can be purchased by the glass for sampling. Mr Dow stressed the absolute necessitv that onlv the finest Australian vintages should be displayed. Australian brandy and Tasmanian aider could find a field, but Australian w-his-kvs were unable to compete. * He added that ufeat optimism was felt bathe worM’s wine trade in the American market.
