HAWERA RIFLE CLUB
SEASON OFFICIALLY OPENED ALL-COMERS’ GUP COMPETITION The Hawera. Defence Rifle Club held the official opening of its 1933-34 rifle shooting season on Saturday, when there was a good attendance of members and visitors- from the Okato, Patea. and Kaiponga. Clubs. Shooting conditions were good, though at times somewhat tricky owing to wind. In the All-comers’ Ou.p competition Rifleman S'. MciDOnald (Patea) was the winner with a very creditable score of 67 of a .possible 70, .composed of seven shots at 500 and 600 yards President S. Roebuck (Okato) with 65 was second and Rifleman L, Mellow (Kaiponga) with 64 writs third. Following were the detailed results : 500 600 Tl.
The club’s activities for members wall commence next Saturday when the first round of the Catran trophy competition •will be fired.
