PROGRESS OF CANVASS £2303 Promised To Date The . canvass for subscriptions to the' Egmorit A. and P. Association’s debt extinction fund is mfcetiiig with a very satisfactory response and at noon to-day the total of the amounts promised stood at £2305. The canvassers report that a most encouraging feature is that in every quarter they are given a most sympathetic reception and it is being made evident that the public appreciates the opportunity that has been offered th reduce the mortgage on the showgrounds from £10)000 to £2OOO provided a siim of £3OOO is raised by public subscription. The amount in hand has been donated or promised in sums ranging from £lO to £250. With a week to go before the opening of the Jubilee Show, it is hoped that the Association will be well within sight of the £3OOO mark by the time the show is declared officially opened. Donations will he received on behalf of the Association by Messrs. B. C. Bennett, C. G-. Trotter, F. Mills (official canvass committee) the secretary (Mr R. McCay) and the Hawera Star Office.
