CHILDREN’S BIRTHDAY PARTY

HAWERA PLUNKET SOCIETY. OVER 400 IN GRAND MARCH. The Hawera Plunkct Society’s '2lst anniversary celebrations concluded at the Winter Show Buildings in Hawera this afternoon when over 400 children attended a birthday party in the upstairs ballroom and took part in the opening grand march. Many were in fancy dress and the changing scone, as colourful as it was animated, was watched by some 200 parents. Music for dancing was provided by Mrs A. K. Fyson’s orchestra and the floor was controlled by Messrs B. P. Morri'ssey and Fyson. Mrs W. C. Eyfe arranged ■the programme and was assisted by Misses Free, Baker, Campbell and Lysagtoti a'nd Mr Pettett-in marshalling the children for the various numbers. At the conclusion of the grand march a two-tier birthday cake was cut by Miss J. Me Co 11 (Plunk et nurse) and pieces' were distributed at afternoon tea in the downstairs hall, at which parents were also entertained. The girls of the Hawera Technical' High School waited at the tables.
