Last year: White 635, coloured 595. BUTTER,. To-day’s cables show a very quiet market at 3s to 4s per cwt. lower than the peak price reported last week. No advices to hand indicate the cause of the weakness, but it has to be remembered that London have not shown any keenness to operate far forward, and f.o.b. offers have been very considerably below London parity. No offers are' available at the moment, although toKlay’s quotations are equal to approximately 12$ d per lb on f.o.b. terms. London retail price has been increased to Is Id per lb. London deliveries continue to be heavy, 2650 tons being delivered last week as against 127,4 tons for the same period last year. CHEESE. As with butter, the market is quieter at prices up to 2s per cwt. lower than last week-end. No f.o.b. business is reported and buyers are inactive. Today’s quotations are equal to sfd per lb f.o.b. Average London retail price is unchanged at 6d per lb. There is little activity in daily circles, most producers and exporters awaiting the results of the proposed new marketing regulations, and the vexed question of quotas. It is expected that both these problems will be dealt with at the Dairy Board meeting to-day and Monday next, and all sections of the industry await official announcements with great interest. ADVANCES. Merchants’ advances to factories have been raised as from October 1. The new rates are as follow: Butter, 10$d per lb (last month 9£d per lb); cheese, 4fd per lb (last month 4sd).
