PROTRACTED STRIKE LIKELY
FELLMONGEIRJ.NG INDUSTRY UNION REJECTS TERMS (United Presi Association—By Electric Telegraph Copyright.) SYDNEY, Sept. 27. The indications now are that the fellmongers1 ’ strike will be protracted. The abattoirs’ strikers returned to work yesterday and the dispute with the employers has been settled amicably. The fellmongers’ strike, however, is progressing. A mass meeting of operatives to consider the terms has rejected the proposals and the industrial registrar has been, informed by the strikers’ leaders that the conditions offered are regarded as unsatisfactory. , • , .. In view of the fact that the strike has dislocated export trade and the men have rejected the proposals for a settlement, there is speculation as to whether the Federal Government will invoke the Crimes Act. The employers have notified the wool-selling brokers that they will not attend the sheepskin sales as buyers and the postponement of the sales vs now being considered.
