$ ; TENNIS CLUB ASSEMBLY. ANNUAL MEETING HELD. (From Our Own Correspondent.) There was a. very fair attendance at the anual meeting of members of the KapOnga Tennis- Club- held last week. In the absence of the president, Mr. G. F. Court occupied the chair.

The annual report stated that a very successful season had been experienced, many players showing improved form. The club competed in the Egmont tennis Association’s competition and also in the Western Division competition, but was not successful in winning j either. Number one court had been | top-dressed early in the season and j was .standing up very well indeed. Ar-. rangements were in hand to top-dress | the number two court, which was ati present in a rather bad state, oub- j scriptions had come*, in very well during | the past year and, although, the balance on the year’s working was 8s less than the previous year, the club still had satisfactory credit balance. The club suffered a severe loss in. August Ist, when one of its prominent members, in the person of Mr R. G. Hill, was transferred from Kaponga. A farewell evening and pi’esentation was tendered Mr Hill by the club and was largelv attended. The election of officers resulted: Patron Dr. J. 1. R. Gray; president, Mr. F. W. Fallows; vice-presidents, Messrs. J. Hessell, W. A. Betts and

E. L. Abbott; secretary and treasurer Mr. G. B. Guthrie; auditor, Mr. J. Hessell; club captain, Mr. B. Hammersley; vice captain, Mr L. Ormiston; executive committee. Misses. O’Neill, Anderson, Guy and Knight, Messrs. Palmer, Court, Harding, B. Hammersley and the president and secretary; delegates to Egmont Tennis Association, Messrs. C. Harding, L.

Ormiston and T. Hammersley. The following were elected as new members: Mrs W. A. Betts, Miss York. Messrs. O. Roberts W. A. Betts, M. H. Hickey and Kivell. Soberiptions were fixed at the same.

Hammersley, I. Ormiston and G. Guthrie were appointed. It was decided that challenges for the ladder positions could he made to every third player up to the lowest of the top 6. Among the top six challenges could be made only to the player immediately above the challenger. It was required that all matches should he played within one week of the chal-

lenge. It was decided to enter in one competition only , this year, this being the Egmont Tennis Association’s competition. The secretary was 1 granted an honorarium of two guineas. TOWN VALUATIONS.
