Groups of armed men, declaring they wore members of the Irish Republican Army, simultaneously raided 20 public houses in' various parts of Dublin city. They jumped the counters and produced hammers and smashed every 'bottle of Bass ale on the premises. 1 The proprietor of one well-known hotel saws the raiders destroyed 20 dozen bottles. They told 'him that the Republican Army had decreed a boycott of Bass products and would not allow a bottle to ibe seen in Dublin.
