As a. result of a 'suburban fire, a widespread Communist, espionage system was revealed. Fire broke out while a, man was cleaning clothes' with petrol. He was severely burnt and sent to hospital. Firemen threw the contents of the room into the street and the police below examined papers in the clothes. They found Communist pamphlets with lists of members and instructions marked “private and confidential” containing important details of national defence, new types of army artillery, light tanks' and aircraft preparations, besides a. box of latest cartridges.
