WOMAN MOTORIST INJURED
WARNING CAUSES DELAY
(uy Telegraph—Press Association.) AVHANGAREI, Aug. 2. Mrs D. G. Gordon, of Taihape, the mother of seven children, suffered a fracture of the base of the skull and scalp lacerations when a car m which she was being driven to Whangarei by Mr W. It. Claris, of Marua, a relative with whom she had been on a. holiday trip, was struck by an express train at the Kamo level crossing to-day. The victim was taken to the hospital in a. serious condition. The car was almost over the line when Mrs Gordon, realising the proximity of the train, called out, causing Mr Claris to ease his foot on the accelerator. It is considered that hut for this the car would have escaped the collision.
