The death ol' Mr Michael Fitzgerald, .T.P., a well known resident of Otira for 30 years and the principal .business figure throughout file period of the tunnel construction, is reported by the Press Association from Grey mouth. Mr R. Burke, now of Ngatea, ITauraki Plains, has been visiting his brother, Mr A. T. Burke, Lowgarth. Mr Burke was formerly a resident of Haw era. The Stratford Jersey Cattle Club last Saturday expressed condolence with the relatives of the late Mr R. J. Linn, a prominent Jersey breeder. Mr J. T. Belcher, Cardiff, has been elected a life member of the 'Stratford Jersey Cattle Club.

Mrs. 1. J. Bri tiger (Mayoress of EUJia.ni) and Miss Coleman, ol Ngaore, returned to Kltham last night alter attending the Dominion conference of the Women’s Institutes in Christchurch.
