AUROA
(From Our Own Correspondent). SCHOOL PICNIC. The annual picnic of the Auroa school was held at the Opunake heaeli last Friday. There was a large attendance of children and parents who thoroughly enjoyed the day’s outing. The presence of other schools with their full quotas added to the pleasure, while the music of the Auroa Pipe Band and that of the local school’s drum and fife band enlivened proceedings. The children were conveyed in Mr. Sandford’s lorry and in tlio school Inis. . The teachers and committee worked hard for the enjoyment of all. .Many races were run with the following results:
Crawlers’ race. —W. Duff I, M. Williams 2. T. Horgan 3. 'I hree- legged race.—lf 1 . O’Den and 10. Granville 1, Bsme Sheerin and Eva Brown 2. Wheelbarrow race.—M. Trott and Eva Brown 1, E. Granville and E. Hartley 2. Relav race, bows. —Auroa (B. Caldwell, L. E. Evans, B. Trott. and A. Williamson) 1, Mangatoki (L. Morgan. F.. T. and J." Muller) 2. Relay race, girls.—Auroa (E. Granville, A. O’Den, M. Waller, and P. Crompton) 1, Single ladies’ race. —Elbe Hartley 1. Miss Hooper 2. Married ladies’ race. —Mrs Patou 1. Mrs W. B. Martin 2. SHOW ARRANGEMENTS.
A meeting of the combined show committee was held on Friday evening and arrangements were made for a show on March IS. A large number of entries have already been lereceived.
