THEFT OF MISSION MONEY
ORGANIST SENT TO! GAOL. CASH AND POSTAL NOTES. AUCKLAND, Feb. 25. Sentence of six months’ imprisonment, to he followed by 12 months’ reformative detention, was passed on Gunnar Paulsen, aged 31. organist, when he appeared in the Police Court yesterday before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., on four charges of stealing money and postal -notes of a total value of £7 10s, the property of the Rev. O. G- Serimgeour. Acting-Sergeant McHugh said accused had been organist at the Methodist Mission. He stole contributions sent to the mission, and the exact amount taken was n-ot known. Accused seemed to be an habitual thief, and liiis latest offences were of the meanest kind imaginable. The magistrate: He is the man who stole part of the Civic organ. Mr McHugh: Yes, ho is full of music. The magistrate: Well, wc will see if he can steal the prison organ. Accused said if given a chance he would seek work in Australia. The magistrate said accused’s record was too bad for liim to be given further chances.
