Mr E. W. Knox has retired from the board of directors of the Colonial Sugar Refining Company after almo'st 69 years’ service with the organisation, states a Sydney cable. The Hon. Justice, H. H. Ostler left New- Plymouth yesterday for Wangamii, where be presides at the Supreme Court, opening to-day. His Honour will return to New- Plymouth later to complete the civil business on the Taranaki calendar.

The death of Sir Robert Donald, aged 72, who was the editor of the “Daily Chroniclc” from 1902 to 1918 and the founder of “The Municipal Journal” and ‘ ‘ Municipal Year Book,” is reported from London. Sir Robert w-as an authority on local government. In 1930 he was a member of the Royal Commission on Transport. During the war ho reported on propaganda and w-as Director of the Ministry of Information.
