SOUTH TARANAKI RETURNS. REGISTRATIONS FOR JANUARY. South Taranaki vital statistics for the month ended January 31 show- a decrease in the number of births, but a slight increase in the number of deaths registered at the seven centres, compared with the figures for the coiresponding month last year. There was an equal number of deaths. The returns just completed are as follow the figures for January, 1932, being shown in parentheses : ' Hawera. —Births, 19 (14); deaths, G (6); marriages, 8 (6). Elthnm. —Births, 6 (9) ; deaths 1 (2); marriages, 0 (0). Manaia. —Births, 3 (4); deaths, 0 (0); marriages, 0 (1). Opunake. —Births, 6 (11); deaths, 0 (2); marriagesj 3 (1). Kaponga.—Births, 2 (5); deaths, 1 (0) ; marriages, 1 (0).. Patea. —Births, 1 (4) ; deaths, 1 (2); marriages, 1 (0). Waverley.—Births, 5 (4) ; deaths, 3 (0); marriages, 0 (2). Aggregates.—Births, 42 (51); deaths, 12 (12); marriages, 12 (10).
WELLINGTON FIGURES
(By Teif-prapt—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Feb. 1. Vital statistics for January compared with January of last year in Wellington district are: Births, 188 (20-1): deaths, 101 (91); marfiage notices, 86 (92); marriages by registrar, 22 (27).
