JUBILEE ARRANGEMENTS

'Oil Monday evening a meeting of the Nonmanby Julbi lee Committee was held, those present being Messrs. T. J. Allan (chairman), J. Howe-Giles, TV'. JJennett, R. Y. Jackson, H. D. Hughes (secretary) and A; Thomas (assistantsecretary). It ‘ was decided to write to the Hawera, Alinrsters’ Association in connection with the proposed open-air combined church services in Victoria Park on Sunday, February 19. The matter of street illumination was discussed, the secretary being instructed to interview the Power Board’s engineer, in orde rto obtain a report for the next meeting. It was. agreed that a street procession of decorated vehicles and trade displays’ should be held, and as the programme for TVednesday afternoon, February 22, was a heavy one, the suggestion that an endeavour be. made to hold the procession in the evening of the same day was adopted, providing that sufficient support was forthcoming. Members were of the? opinion that if the procession started early, say at 7.30, tb© school Children could participate, their part being made a special feature. The Maoris also are to be invited to join in the procession and subsequent festivities. Mr J. Howe-Giles was appointed to make arrangements for a jubilee_ cake and to report at the next meeting. A! recommendation is to be made to the Nbrmanby Town Board that, with the exception of a merry-go-round, all side-shows and games conducted for private profit be not granted a permit' during jubilee week. The formation of reception, invitation and decoration committees, was left over until the meeting of the 11m’ticultural Society on Friday next. PEBSONAD. Mi- and Mrs C. Kimberley, wlio have been the guests of Mr and Airs J. Hickey lor the past few weeks, have returned to Auckland. Air and Airs C. I». Hay have -.returned from Dunedin.
