BLOOMS AT OKAIAWA
PRESBYTERIAN FLOWER SHOW. ATTRACTIVE ANNUAL DISPLAY. The hall at Okaiawa presented a blaze of colour to-day when the Presbyterian annual flower show was .opened to the public. The combined sections afforded a gorgeous display and the exhibition was regarded as one of the most attractive yet staged at Okaiawa. The. honorary secretary (Miss E. Washer) and ' her committees had worked assiduously in t-lie preparatory organisation and everything was well and systematically arranged so as to set out the beautiful blooms to the best advantage. Neatly decorated stalls for the sale of sweets, produce and cakes were well stocked and the ladies in charge transacted brisk business. Competitions also provided much interest. The show will be open again this evening and a large assembly is expected.
The judges were as follow: Roses, sweet peas and cut blooms, Mr C. Goodson;? decorations, Mrs H. T. Lovell; vegetables, Mr T. J. Allan; home industries, Mrs W. J. Hill. Those in charge of stalls were: Sweets, Mrs Oldfield, iMiss J. Joyce; produce and cakes, Mesdames R. Penny and G. Preeee, Misses W. Oldfield/and M. Oughton; hooplah, Misses Barr (2) and Mr D. 'Shearer; tearooms, Mesdames G. Oldfield and W. Williams aiid Misses Tong, Wards, Sutherland, Lindsay and Murdoch. The rose championship was won by Mrs D. Mitchell, Manaia.
