SCHOOL COMMITTEE. (From Our Own Correspondent.) Mr I B. Muggeridge presided over the usual monthly meeting of the School Committee on Monday evening. There wore also- present Messrs *u. Bills, R-. H. Cornwall. R. Q. Seh s®®s (secretary) and D. M. Jdlett (head teacher). <* The teacher reported that the hoys and "iris’ plots had been planted since the 1 last meeting and in most cases were up and thinned. The mangolds were (looking particularly well am should result in a much heavier crop this year. A request had been made to the secretary of the club for a change to he made in the method ot pidgin" the calf competition, hut no reply had vet been received. It was decided that the annual concert lie hold on the evening of the last .school day, and that the laches lie asked to'provide the supper • To raise funds for Christmas gift books for the children a list is to he circulated ill the district. # The teacher was authorised to make the arrangements necessary for the
upkeep of the school grounds during the holidays. Noel Sciiwass, a junior, member of the calf club, is to be congratulated on his success in the Egmont Show last week. As. he was the onlv pupil in-the local school to enter his calf, his win should encourage other children to enter in,, the future. His calf (Patricia) gained first- place in the marked calf section and third in the hoys and girls’ club section. __ PERSONAL. Airs C. Muggeridge and her three children are the guests of Mrs A. B. Muggeridge. Mr G. Baldwin is progressing favourably after liis recent illness.
