There was no doubt it would he to the advantage of the pupils and teachers to have the whole floor levelled. The manual supervisor (Mr. D. Mackay) reported that the work in all centres luxcl proceeded steadily and satisfactorily. Most of the boys had completed the course laid down in the scheme and were now engaged on extra elective models. The cutting tools were being kept in good order, particularly by the older boys, who understood the necessity for keen tools in good working. Draw-ing work was usually very satisfactory, the principal difficulty experienced by the boys being the practical application;, of the notions of fractional parts. Better co-opera-tion between instructor and teacher would eliminate this difficulty. The pupils merit marks were being forwarded for consideration at the proficiency examination centres. The cookerv work for the month, had consisted at‘several centres mainly ol the principles of “invalid cookery, ■ and at least one of the instructresses had included a few; short lessons on home nursing and simple remedies. In oeneral, the year’s woi’k was well advanced and interest was being main tained. Notebooks were neatly kept and o-enernllv well illustrated. Opportunity to hold the instructresses’ conference had not vet presented itseJi. As the instructor had a free period, and as they could arrange for thenown material, no charge is to be made to the Hawera Technical High School Board of Governors for the conducting of the classes, in which twelve hoys are interested. , ' T , The editor of the School Journal notified the board that articles. dealing with bird protection would be nisei ted in the Journal as opportunity ottered.
