The oconomv committee of the House of Commons, professing to represent a- big (Section of the Conservative Party, has issued a drastic report demanding reductions in national and local expenditure to an extent of over £100,000,000 anually. . It suggests the abolition of housing subsidies, big economies, an education, longer hours for the civil service, a revision of civil service pensions, a reduction in the size of battleships, the disbandonment of the Air Force units in Iraq and Palestine. It is also suggested that the Department of Overseas Trade and the Empire Marketing Board be wound up and the Dominions colonial offices reamalgamated.
