When the corporation took over the* control of broadcasting on Novembea’ 14, 1922,. there were ]R,OOO wireless license-holders in Britain; to-day there are over 5,000,001). The total programme time ten years' ago averaged 33 hours a week, compared with 83 hours at present. A large and flourishing industry lias developed with a wide growth of the popularity of broadcasting, and now nearly 200.000 people are directly employed in the manufacture, of wireless sets. Last year £30,000,000 was spent in Britain on the purchase o‘ sets and accessories.
