In the early stages of the round Mrs Templer gave a rather indifferent display, while her approach shots, and putting; both proved erratic. Mrs Templer improved and showed fine form to assume a six up lead at the 11th hole.

Miss Rutherford then rallied to win back three holes, but lost the 18t.li, •giving her opponent a lead of four to commence the afternoon round.
