RED CROSS SOCIETY
EARTHQUAKE RELIEF FUND. FURTHER CONTRIBUTIONS. Further contributions of £1 from the Junior Red Cross Circle at Normaiiby and 6s from the Junior Red Cross Circle at Te Roti, to the national fund of the Red Gross Society for the relief of distress in the Wai-roa-Gisborne earthquake area, are acknowledged by Mrs F. C. King, secretary of the South Taranaki council. A donation of 10s from the Junior Red Cross Circle at Opunake, which previously was credited in error to Okaiawa, also is acknowledged.

The following Hawera candidates were successful in the recent first aid examinations: First Year.—Miss Florence Walsdorf, Miss Alice Shannon, Miss Jean Brown, Messrs. 'William Shaw. Ernest Foster, Frederick Palmer. Gordon Shaw, Isaac Sorenson, Alec -Sorenson. Second Year.—-Mrs Frances Gerrard, Messrs Charles Sharpe, Maurice Shaw, Robert Johnston, Malcolm Lay. I)r. W. F. Buist, the examiner, congratulated the candidates on the excellency of the practical and oral work, done by them.
