REPEAL OF THREE ACTS
.CHAMBER OF COMMERCE PLAINT. TOBACCO TRADE .SUPPORT. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLThTGTOX, Oct. 12. A conference of representatives of the tobacco trade of the Dominion today agreed to join with the Associated Chambers of Commerce in a deputation to the Government to-morrow asking that the Board of Trade Act, the Cost of Living Act and the Commercial Trust Act be repealed. By preventing the manufacturer from controlling the price, these Acts, it was said, led to a number of large firms using tobacco as a decoy for other business. A petition had been sent to Parliament asking that if the Commercial Trust Act could not be repealed it be amended to permit the price of tobacco to the consumer to be controlled.
