TRADE WITH FAR EAST
MOVE BY NEW ZEALAND. BOARDS AND MINISTERS MEET. (British Official Wireless.) WELLINGTON, Oct. 12. A definite move to establish trade with the Far East was made to-day when a conference was held between the Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes ('Prime Minister), the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates (Minister of Employment), the Hon. E. Alasters (Alinister of Industrie and Commerce) and representatives of the four export boards. Air Forbes stated subsequently that the conference was most satisfactory. He indicated the boards would confer further. Air D. Jones (chairman of the Meat Board) to convene a meeting.
Direct shipping was one of the necessities, Air Forbes said, but he made it clear there was no likelihood of the State instituting a service. ■He said the Government was serious in its determination to see that fresh markets were developed wherever opportunity offered. The Minister of Industries and Commerce had obtained a vast amount of information regarding the. possibilities of trade with Eastern countries, and this had been furnished to the export boards. Now that the preliminary conference had been held it was for the boards to follow up the matter.
