HAWERA KITCHEN EVENING

PRESENTATIONS TO MISS M. SQUIRE. Tn the Hawera Methodist Sunday school on Wednesday a kitchen evening was tendered to Miss Maida Squire by the members of the Bible classes and Sunday school teachers. There was a large gathering and -a. happy fci;ne was spent with games and competitions, also songs hv Miss W. Mills and Mr. Rushtou and a piano solo by Mr. C. Laurent. A large number of gift parcels were opened by Miss Squire, who, with Mr. Baker, returned thanks to' her friends. Rev. Mr. Elmmitt spoke in appreciation of Miss Squire’s work in the choir and Sunday school. Supper was served and the singing of “Auld Lang Syne” brought a very happy evening to a close. On Monday a linen evening was tendered Miss Squire at the residence of Mrs. Bates, Disraeli Street. Games, competitions and singing made the evening pass all too quickly. A dainty supper was served, after which the guest of the evening was asked to open the parcels, showing a very pleasing assortment of linen articles. Miss Squire thanked Mrs. Bates and her daughter for their kindness in arranging such a happy function and the kind friends for their very acceptable gifts.
