MEAT AND FRUIT TRADES

Deliberations At Ottawa DOMINIONS ADVANCE PLANS Proposals To Britain EXPECTATION OF CONCESSIONS INTERVIEW WITH MINISTERS. (United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph Copyright.) Received 2.40 p.m. to-day. OTTAWA, July 27.

The Dominion delegation leaders to the Imperial Conference, with Mr. S. M. Bruce (Australia) as spokesman, today met Mr. Neville Chamberlain (British Chancellor), Mr. Walter Runciman (President of the Board of Trade), and Sir John Gilmour (British Minister of Agriculture) and presented' the Dominions’ meat proposals. Inasmuch as the plan is the considered and unanimous scheme of the Dominions, the delegations are convinced that Britain will ultimately give some concession.

The inter-Dominion fruit industry committee met with the Dominion Minister present and Mr. Havenga (South Africa) presiding. The meeting discussed the position and completed a uniform policy. The delegates considered their concrete proposals, in which Canada is chiefly interested m apples and, to a lesser degree, Australia and New Zealand. South Africa is interested' in citrus and luxury fruits, Canada, Australia and South Africa in pears, and Western Australia and South Africa in fresh grapes. Australia is enormously interested in canned and dried fruits. The Empire proposals will now be submitted to the British delegates. • Canada desires to postpone consideration of cereals and base metals until next week. Australia, and South Africa alone are interested in sugar and wines, the time for a discussion of which is not yet fixed.
