.s> W.E.A. LECTURE. (From Our Own Correspondent). In the inavoidable absence of Mr. J. W. Snowdon, president of the Manaia branch of the W.E.A., the Rev B. Dudley presided at the monthly meeting held on Thursday evening at tlio Oddfellows’ Hall. Mr. J. A. Brailsford, tutor lecturer of the branch, gave an instructive lecture on “New Russia.” There was a good attendance of members of the branch and all followed the remarks of the lecturer with close attention. At the conclusion, questions were asked by the chairman and Messrs. Berry. Edwards, Fendall and Badland and replied to by the speaker. A vote of thanks was accorded Mr. Brailsford. It was announced that the next meeting to he held in a month’s time, would he the last of the series and would take the form of a social evening, ladies bringing a basket. ’Hie massive Manaia. town and school jubilee cake is now on view in Mr. C. Abbott’s shoo window. It is very elaborate and reflects great credit on the designer and maker, Air A. H. Yarrow .
