The provincial championship cheese points prizes: Auckland, Cambridge; Co-op.; Taranaki, Lowgarth Co-op.; Wellington and Hawke’s Bay, Palliatua Co-op.; South Island, Barry’s Bay Co-op.; first assistants’ prize, Pahiatua Co-op. (T. Pinfold). Champion of champions, Kiritaki Co-op. 1; Pahiatua Co-op. 2. In commenting on the butter, Mr W. Dempster, chief Government grader, stated that the general quality of the exhibits was very good and, considering the time the butter had been in stpre the flavours had held up well. A noticeable feature was a lack of district flavours, a perusal of the prize list indicating that the prizes were distributed over the Dominion from the far north to Dunedin in the South. The body and texture of the butter was very pleasing and showed greatest uniformity and the managers were to be congratulated on the regular quality of their exhibits.

Mr C. Stevenson, the principal cheese judge, said the majority of the higher scoring exhibits in the cheese classes were of a very creditable quality and flavour. Several showed the smooth type of body that is required. Many of the entries would have scored higher had the body been less harsh and dry. These gave indications of more salt than the curd required. With exception of a few the. finish was generally very good, the cheese being neat and clean.
