WAR REGULATION REPEAL

REQUEST BY DEPUTATION. TRADES AND LABOUR COUNCIL. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. May 30. The repeal of War Regulations was asked by a deputation from the Trades and Labour Council w r hich -waited on the Prime Minister to-day. The proceedings were conducted in private. Subsequently it was learnt from the deputation that specific mention was made of a regulation empowering the Governor-General to declare any industry essential for public welfare and making persons who have taken part in a strike liable to imprisonment. The deputation also asked that persons receiving a high superannuation should not be appointod to commissions on hoards of inquiry. A promise was made to give consideration to representations.
