BANK OF NEW ZEALAND

STAFF WORK COMMENDED. • (By Telegraph —Press Association.) WELLINGTON, June 19. The annual meeting of the Bank of New Zealand was held-’to-day: - A hearty vote of thanks was passed to the directors, general manager and staff, on the motion of Mr A. ;E. IMabin. Mr Alabin said that the world was going through a very strenuous time. Everything seemed to have gone awry and the highest economists in the world had not been able to find the cause thereof, but all were looking for the silver lining or streak of light which would come to the rather harassed world. The laws of economies worked very slowly, but surely, and everyone would emerge a far wiser, but possibly a poorer man. In times such as the present it was far more .necessary and right that shareholders should pass a vote of thanks to the staff for their services.

Paying a tribute to the chairman of directors, Air- William Watson, Air Alabin said that his long years and experience in banking finance and what might be termed his solid and determined character, also his close association with the affairs of the Dominion in the past, when a crisis had occurred, would be. of very great service to the bank at. the present- time, and he would have a very valuable coadjutor in Sir Henry Buckleton.

The chairman and Sir 'Henry Buckleton (general manager) replied and the meeting concluded.
