SHIPMENT TO AUSTRALIA FORCED LABOUR SUGGESTION GOVERNMENT TO INQUIRE (United Prc.sa Association—By Electric, Telegrapn Copyright.) Received 10.30 a.m. to-day. CANBERRA, June 20. The Prime Minister in a statement concerning the Russian timber shipment reported; this week, said the Government had no power to cheek Russian imports though there was a heavy customs tariff on all foreign timbers The Government had no means of ascertaining whether the consignment was produced by forced • labour, but, inquiries were continuing.
