The Federal Rleserve Board’s annual report to Congress indicated that at the close of 1930 American monetary staoks in gold amounted to. £918,000,000 ' within £20,000,000 of the .peak figure in May, 1927, and marking an increase of £62,000,000 during the year. Describing tlie resumption of the flow of gold to* the United States early in 1930. the report stated: “In general the movement was one from outlying countries producing raw material to the finance centres. . It reflected the decline in value of their products, and the conditions were unfavourable to* flotation of loans in the United States.”
