W.D.F.U. .MELTING. I ire monthly meeting of the women’s division of the Farmers’ Union was held on Friday last, Airs. Alacfarlarie presiding. Also present were: Mcs'liimes Simson. Palmer, AlcGregof. Dickie. Boyer, Aiken, Alex. Elmslie. W. Johnstone, and the Alisses Kennedy, Svmes, A. McGregor. and the secretary. Apologies were received from Mesdanies Blaekiston" Buy Hughes, and Miss I. A. McGregor. A vote of sympathy was passed to those who had lost relatives and friends in the Napier disaster. Tlie motion was carried, all present standing iii silence. A report of the executive meeting held in Dunedin in January was read. There were three housekeepers and one maternity nurse employed by the branch since the beginning of the year.

The monthly meeting of the Wuverley Town Board was hold last week, Mi*. A. -J. Ad lam presiding. The Commissioner of ’Transport wrote notifying that tlie motor regulations necessitated the appointment of a local testing officer. Air. Palmei* was appointed local drivers’ licensing and testing officer. i The Department of Health submitted a report on tests made on samples of the town water. It was discovered that the sample of supposedly liltered water bad been drawn from a pipe I which lnul not been used regularly and which was not connected with the filler. A serious accident happened on Saturday to AJiss Seed, a school teacher pit Ngutuwera, when her horse bolted pi ml she was thrown, suffering a broken leg. She was taken to the Patea Hospital, where the limb was set and she is progressing well.
