PUBLIC SCHOOLS' A.A.A. A meeting of tile Patea and District Public Scrools’ A.A.A. was held on Saturday, AIU Palmer presiding. Apologies' for non-attendance were received from Messrs P. C. Haniblyn, D. Tuiinielifl’e. ami Sadler.
It was decided- to hold the annual sports on March 21 ami the iollowing Were appointed to control the gathering: Conductor, Mi - P. Palmer; deputy, Mr F, 'S. Tarrant'; section leaders: Section A, Messrs Tong and 'Haniblyn; sections B and B, Messrs Jiliett and IT. A, Allen'; section C, Messrs ’T-uimieliffe and Hunt; Section D. Messrs Ariastrong and Eutherford; Section F, Mieses Dale, Leversedge, and Messrs Whittington and Aker; Sections G- and :T, Miss Beamish and Messrs Fiiilaysoh and Sadler; section 11, Misses Leitz and Fullerton and Messrs I). Hurley and C. R. Honeyfield; section 1, Miss Patchett, Airs Dermett, Mrs Fullerton, Air T. Hurley; assistant-secretary, Mr F. F. Hemingway; starter .for championships ami Handicap per' for section E> 'ATr (?. ,T. Gardiner; ground’ committee, Afessrs A rmstroiig, Hemingway, Whittingt on, and Frank AJeKenna; gatekeeper, ATr T. Hobbs; weather committee, Alessrs Rutherford and Hemingway; liino ; table committee, Alessrs Tong and Tarrant; blackboard steward, Atr R. W. Ilnddow; clerks of course, Alessrs Hunt and Finlayson. Beamish and Airs Derreft, were deputed to purchase toys for the children.

RIFLE R HOOTING. The first competition for DeputyPresident. AVhite’s trophy was tired on the local rifle range on 'Saturday. The scores, with the exception of President Palmer's brilliant, possible, wort; low. The following were the scores: V. Palmer, 50, scratch, 50; S. McDonald, 1.3, -I, 17; .1. McDonald. 35, 12, -17; L. Davidson. 40, 5, 45; O. Hansen, 40, 5, 45; A. J. 'Campbell, 43, —, 4.3; 0. Carey, 42, scratch, 42; J. scratch, 37. personal. Alls. 1; Jean Al'cClay, who has been in charge of the local railway refreshment rooms for some years, was the recipient on Monday* of a leather suitcase from the railway staff, West Coast Refrigerating Company’s employees, and officers and crews' of local trading vessels on Saturday last; The stationmaster, Air Strafford, expressed the regret felt at Miss* AlcClay’s departure and wished Iter every happiness and prosperity. Another presentation, a leather handbag; was made by many girl Friends as a token of esteem.
