Divine service ended on February I aboard the Maloja, shortly alter leaving Bombay for England, the lire alarm sounded. Many passengers, i.elieving it to be merely a lire drill signal, tesumed deck games, but- when liio steamer turned back to Bombay il was realised that the situation was possibly serious. The crc-w extinguished the fire, which was seated in one of the holds, after four hours’ lighting, and the voyage was resumed. Marseilles was reached without further event.
