Mr James Stevenson, one of the injured refugees from the earthquake area who was sent to the Hawera Hospital from the Palmerston North camp, died yesterday. He was aged eighty' and was resident in the Dominion for a number of years. His address, so far as is known, was Martinborough (Wairarapa). 'So far as is known he had no relatives in the Dominion. The funeral will take place to-morrow at 3.30 p.m. from the hospital gates and will be conducted by Rev. R. E. Evans.

A dance in aid of the earthquake relief fund is to be held on AYednesday evening at St. Joseph’s Hall, Hawera, under the auspices of the Ohawe Troop, Legion of Frontiersmen, and is expected to attract liberal support from over a wide area. A jsitors are exneeted from as far as New Plymouth in the north and Wanganui in*the south. Rhythm for the dances will he set by an orchestra consisting of Aliss Rogers (piano), Aliss Dolan (’cello). Airs Ouin (string bass), and Messrs Abberlv and G. AY. Taylor (violins). Carter (flute), Darbyshire (clarionet and saxophone), H. C. A. Fox (cornet), C. Lee (trombone), and R. Robinson (drums). The services of this accomplished company of musicians are to he giveji gratuitously. The legion committee with the assistance of” a number of ladies is making thorough preparation and the occasion is expected to- prove replete with enjoyment for a large assembly.
