UNEMPLOYMENT IN ELTHAM
PROGRESS OF RELIEF MEASURES The .unemployment -committee met on Friday night and decided to allocate 32 men to the County Council and 12 to the Borough Council for Avork that Avoukl not .be clone in the commences on Monday. The Avork to_.be undertaken is not work that AA’oukl not bed one in the ordinary course of Avork and not provided for on the estimates. The County Council Avill proA’kle work on the Omoana Road for about 15 single men at two days a week. The others will be employed in other ports of the count A’. ■
The Borough Council has decided to employ the men on the various reserves of the borough for the time being. Applications are .still being rereived for men under the No. 2 scheme.
