PALMERSTON NORTH SESSION. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) PALMERSTON N., Oct. 28. Tlie Supreme Court session opened this morning, when Mr. Justice Reed congratulated the district on the absence of crime. There are; only two indictments, one of dishonestly obtaining money, and the other a charge of /negligent driving causing death. True hills were returned in both cases.

COLENSO’S TRIAL ADJOURNED. CHRISTCHURCH, Oct. 28. Alfred James Stanley Colenso will be tried at the Supreme Court to-morrow week on the charge of having murdered Robert William Cockburn on September 3at Coleridge. A true bill m this charge was returned by the grand jury at the Supreme Court this morning. The Crown Prosecutor said that Arthur Edward Farquharson, one of the principal witnesses for the Crown, was unwell. An adjournment of the hearing was, therefore, agreed to.

FIVE CASES AT DUNEDIN

DUNEDIN, Oct, 28

The quarterly criminal sessions opened this morning. Mr. Justice Kennedy, addressing the grand jury, said that crime in this district did not fluctuate much. Tlie charges against five persons ranged from motor manslaughter to indecent assault, burglars , breaking, entering and theft. Henry Samuel Clegg, for indecently assaulting a girl under the age of 16, pleaded guilty and was remanded for sentence.

SITTING AT WELLINGTON

WELLINGTON, Oct. 28. Tiis quarterly sessions of the Supreme Court opened to-day, Mr. Justice Blair presiding. True bills were returned in all cases. Alfred Charles William Felix was the first case called, the charge being carnal knowledge. said he would now plead guilty. His Honour said lie would like to read the papers placed before him and be would deal with tlie case later in the day.
