COMPANY FORMED. PROMOTERS’ HIGH HOPES. (By Telegraph—Press Association.; CHRISTCHURCH, Oct. 27. For isome weeks the organised unemployed and relief workers committee has been engaged on the work of promoting its registration *ts a company, and this has now been accomplished. It. is claimed that the nature of the enterprises in which it proposes to engage and the manner in which it intends raising the capital necessary to launch them are unique. The promoters frankly state that those to whom shares are allotted are at no time to expect a dividend and will not receive any interest from their investments, no matter what profits are made. It is said that the Government has evinced readiness to extend practical assistance to the organisation. Businessess already" established are those of co-operative contracting; cooperative casual work, gardening and spring cleaning; co-operative tailoring, cleaning, pressing and repairing; accountancy and general book-keeping; general organisting and clerical work, and free male and female registry offices. It is hoped that from these sources and other and more important businesses to lie established the relief needed for the support, of the wives and children of the unemployed will come, and that quite a large number of men who are now unable to find useful, and profitable work will be engaged in a social service. The committee claims that not only will the unemployed position he i'elieved, but that the State will effect a great saving in the administration of the Unemployment Act, and the levy on the tax-payers will be reduced. The federation of committees for the abolition of unemployment is establishing co-operaive businesses in all centres of Hie Dominion, and a full statement of its aims and objects will be made public at an early date.
