ASSAULT ON CONSTABLE
TWO MEN BEFORE GAOL.
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Oct. 28. Two young men who were arrested after a. constable had been knocked down and kicked by a number of men last night were charged to-day with being disorderly while drunk, obstructing and assaulting the constable and cinunitting mischief. Both admitted that they had been in company with a number of men in tlie street at the time, hut denied any part in the assault. The magistrate convicted both and sentenced Robert Eric Plumes ter, aged 22, to a month’s imprisonment. Roy Francis Kirkwood, aged 19. was remanded for a week in custody.
