BATTERY FAULTS

It is advisable to inspect the acid level of the battery from time to time and to keep it above the tops of the plates by adding, distilled water, just enough to restore the level. Remember that over-charging the battery will waste the acid, and itwill need frequent additions of distilled water. The top of a battery should be dry, and there should be no corrosion on

the connections, as this indicates acid leakage. If there is any corrosion, detach the connections and scrape them thoroughly clean, replace them and smear some vaseline- over them. If corrosion again occurs, let the nearest battery service depot examine the battery, as the leak-proof devices may need attention. If the battery goes wrong internally, such as by developing faulty plates, there is nothing that the user can do. It is entirely a job for a battery service station.
