ELTHAM THEATRE. “THE BLACK WATCH.” Romance, adventure, intrigue and love crowd every breathless moment of “The Black Watch,” which screens at. the Eltliam Theatre to-night. This picturisation of Talbot Alundy’s stirring romance is admitted by critics and public alike to be the greatest achievement of the speaking screen. In “The Black Watch” McLaglan is cast as a government secret service agent, and a gorgeous plot, centring about a love affair with an exotic adventuress of ageless Asia, lifts one from mystery, suspense to thrills and thrills to ecstasy. Myrna Lov, .playing opposite the star, is beautiful and seductive, unprincipled and crued, proud and ambitous, a woman who played at love, won and lost and, to the end, staked an empire on a kiss. It is the richest role she has ever had and reports indicate that she has made a lasting name for herself. Old and new songs, which are delightfully and logically interwoven as interludes, are “Blue Bonnets, ” “For Charlie,” “Annie Laurie,” “Aukl Lang Syne,” “Flower of Delight,” “Sally of My Dreams,” “Mother Knows Best.’
