GOLF BALL A BRILLIANT SUCCESS The first golf ball, which was held in the. Waverley Town Hall on Friday evening last, proved to be one of the most successful functions ever held in tliis district, visitors being present from Auckland, New Plymouth, Hawera Patea, Wanganui, Morton, and Dan.no 1 - virke. The hall was very tastefully decorated with .mirrors, pictures, and many coloured flowers and streamers, blending beautifully with the array of coloured lights. The stage was artistically set out with spring blooms and greenery, on full sized' trees, a very nice display that reflected great credit on the decorating committee. In the supper room were decorations of poppies, daffodils and violets with baskets draped with spring flowers. The masters of ceremonies were Messrs G. P. iSpratt, P. G. Bremer, D. S. 'Craig and Dr. P. V. Groves. The ladie® who supervised the decorating were Airs 11. Bradmore, ’Misses Of. Harvey, N. Alathieson and A. Bradmore, while other willing helpers lent assistance. The supper arrangements were in charge of ladies of the club and were excellently carried out. The energetic secretary, Air D. S. iCraig, had a tremendous amount of work to do, but his organisation was perfect and the success of the function certainly reflected credit oil hisi and ills assistant's efforts'.

OBITUARY. AIR: E. P. CHRISTENSEN. Residents will learn with deep regret of the death of Air E. P. Christensen* well-known builder and contractor, of Waverley, on Friday last, at the early age of 41 years. The funeral took place at the Waverley Cemetery on Sunday afternoon, a large number of settlers paying their tribute of respect to the memory af the deceased.
