HAWERA TRACK NOTES. (By “Limited.”) | This meirning was beautifully fine after the heavy rain for training epefaticn/3. Both sandi and grass tracks of the Hawera course were u«ed, the I latter being sodden and slow. Ail the Hunt Club engaged horses were out, but there was not much fast work indulged in. Av.l’ine gave Ten tea If and Calamine working gallops without essaying; to make time. IBifiex and. Whirl worked at threequarter pace on the sand. On the grass, Ala ides and Royal 1 Acre went once round, commencing slowly, and, timed from the six furlong 'post, the pair came heme together in 1.28. J.'ne old steeplechaser M akl-os is m good heart. Latakia pottered about on the inside ova-'i. Coal bag and Silvermine galloped five furlongs on the sand, the latter finishing in front in 1.7, after running their first three furlongs under a. tick unidleu '4os e-cs. Son o’ Mine worked a couple of rounds of the sand track, Cowan Lea was again trotting and cantering on the inside oval. . . . C'apey worked well over two rounds of the sand track. Bonogno worked nicely oven- three furlongs on the grass in 435-ees., without being -chased out. C-n the grass the maiden. Miss Shef, md Joy Spear gaUcped four furlongs. Joy Spear finished a bit in front, in 55 sees. Mendip went once round on the sand, striding out boldly and being afterwards exercised on the lead. Bright Glow, Bairbridge and Green Linnet were given easy, exercise on. the inside. Double Red did pace work. Goblin Market galloped, three furlongs down the hack nicely in 42) secs. on the- grass. ; On the same track The Warden finished a couple of lengths in front of Gasnapper over five furlongs in 1.8). _ Mt. Shannon arid Qrazbne were given light tasks. The usual number of two-year-olds did routine work. The appe rent ice jockey, M. Pine, leaves to-day to. ricle at Dannevirbe, two of his mounts being Klmezzo and Lady Rene. Pikimqi went very scratc-hily in bis exercise work and is causing Trainer AT. Conway anxiety.
