MIDNIGHT ESCAPADE
e— TWO AIEN GET GAOL-. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) TAIL! A PE, Aug. 5. Breaking into the storeroom after arousing and being refused liquor by the licensee of the Gretna Hotel, Tailiape, about 3 o’clock on Alonday morning, Robert Boyd, aged 23, and John Warren, aged 31, stole a case of stout and opened it on the roadside, where they drank freely. They hid the rest in a culvert. An hour earlier they attempted to break into the Alain Trunk Brewery, but the lock resisted all their efforts. Warren was arrested on the riverbank drinking from bottles, while Boyd was arrested at his home, bottles in his possessiop. Both appeared before Justices in court this morning. Boyd, with five previous convictions, was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment, while AVarren. a married man, living apart from his wife, with one previous conviction, received three months’.
