SAME FOOTING AS MEN
WOMEN AND THE MINISTRY. (United Preiiß Association —By Electric Telegraph Copyright.) LONDON, July 29. The “Daily News” states that women are demanding full entry into the priesthood, on an equal footing w ith men. in a memorandum forwarded to the Archbishop of Canterbury lor consideration at the Lambeth Conference. The signatories include Miss Maude Bowden, Miss Carol Morrison, a woman solicitor, Drs. Iva Moren and Sybil Pratt, and Mrs. Powell, wife of a AVoreestershire vicar. „ The most striking passage states: “Women are increasingly inclined to wish for tire ministry ot their own sex in cases of conscience as they a. ready* seek women doctors lor physicmt troubles. This need is so great that women are at present appealing the ministry of women in sacramental confession and experiencing the reality of the absolution conferred. This unauthorised ' ministry, however, is inadequate and undesirable from the
viewpoint of order.” The “Daily News” says it has the highest authority for the statement that the memorandum has not the slightest chance of /being approved. The bishops will not, look at it.
